ISHINCA - AKILPO

Distance 38 km Polylepis forest
Altitude between 3200 and 5100 m
Rating Easy to Moderate (steep pass)
Duration 3-4 days
Start Collón
Finish Marcará

This is a magnificent trip. Akilpo is one of the few untouched valleys in the National Park Huascarán with an amazing Polylepis forest and nice lakes, rivers and waterfalls. In a short period of time you'll be able to see a large number of snow-topped peaks.

It's an easy path through the valleys, but the pass is very steep and you need to be in a good condition. In the rainy season the pass is covered with snow and we advise to use a rope and walking sticks. From Collón you can make a side trip into the small and wild Urus valley with two beautiful little lakes.
